KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is looking for financial contributions.
For two years, we have entertained while trying to mainstream queer identities through the medium of films. This year, we promise a bigger show, for queer persons, their families, friends and for Everyone.
KASHISH is the only mainstream queer film festival in India with approval from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The film festival is a not-for-profit event and one of the few festivals of its kind in the world that doesn’t charge ticket prices or registration fee as we firmly believe we need to reach out to Everyone.
KASHISH 2012 will be held between May 23-27, 2012, at a multiplex theater in suburban Mumbai and Alliance Francaise de Bombay in South Mumbai. KASHISH is not only a festival that spotlights LGBTQ cinema, but has also become a landmark festival in Mumbai’s cultural event calendar. With no government support and corporate sponsorship in India still difficult to come by, we rely heavily on support from individuals and organizations to make the festival happen. We are crowd-funding the festival this year through Wishberry.in and LGBTSupports.org.
All the money collected is used to cover festival expenses like venue costs, printing and stationery, promotional materials, trophies and awards and making your festival experience most enjoyable.

WHAT IS ‘KASHISH’ KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is the first and only LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) film festival in India to be held in a mainstream theater and the only such festival to receive clearance from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The theme for the third edition of the festival, KASHISH 2012, to be held at a multiplex theater (May 23-27th) and Alliance Française de Bombay (May 24-26th) is ‘FOR EVERYONE’. The festival will make a special effort to program films and have panel discussions that appeal not only to the LGBTQ community but also those that relate to families and friends of LGBT people. The festival is open FOR EVERYONE and it is a FREE event.
WHY IS ‘KASHISH’ Fundraising? The festival is a not-for-profit event. We don’t charge ticket prices or registration fee. It is open to EVERYONE free of charge.

India’s Biggest Queer Film Festival returns for its third edition in 2012.
KASHISH 2012 will be held from May 23-27, 2012 at a mainstream multiplex theater in suburban Mumbai and at Alliance Francaise de Bombay in South Mumbai.
KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is the first and only gay & lesbian film festival in India to be held in a mainstream theater and the only queer festival to receive clearance from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The festival is organized by Solaris Pictures and Bombay Dost in association with The Humsafar Trust.
Film Submissions now open for KASHISH 2012 - 3rd Mumbai International Queer Film Festival
KASHISH is all about films and filmmakers!
Filmmakers from India and across the world can submit features, documentaries and short films that highlight/focus on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer themes and expressions.
There is no SUBMISSION FEE to submit the film. Also the festival does not pay Screening Fee.
Films other than in English language SHOULD be subtitled in English.
The festival has both competitive and non-competitive sections.
Only films completed after January 1, 2009 can be submitted. Only films completed after January 1, 2011 will be eligible for Competition.
LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION: JANUARY 15, 2012 (postmarked).
